Crafts & Activities

Prop Box Idea for the Letter Jj = Jack and The Beanstalk
Fill the prop box with items that will help the children recreate the story after reading it together. Some suggestions: A copy of the book, a cow mask or horns, a pretend ax, a bag of magic beans (jelly beans or colored uncooked lima beans), a funny hat or oversized clothes for the giant, and a scarf or apron for the mother to wear. Suspend something from your ceiling to represent the beanstalk-green streamers, or a string of green painted paper towel tubes w/ some leaves stuck on - let the children help you brainstorm!

Make a Display Box for "Jj"
Decorate a box with the letter "Jj" theme. Inside the box place items (or pictures of items) whose names begin with Jj. Some ideas below:

Or fill an album with pictures of items that begin with the letter "Jj"

Jungle Collage
Give the children jungle die cuts to paint and add to a leafy green background-this could be a mural, or each child could do their own.
